Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at Town Hall
A new Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station is now available for public use at Town Hall.
The EV charging station was made possible with 100% grant funding from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. The grant provided funding for the charging station, the mounting pier, and installation and activation of the charging station.
The Town's station is a ChargePoint CT4021 Dual Level II Gateway Bollard Station, which is part of the ChargePoint network of EV charging stations. There are over 100,000 ChargePoint Stations worldwide and over 5,000 in NY alone. The CT4021 is designed for commercial and municipal use. The unit provides the Town with the flexibility to set charging fees and allows for two vehicles to be charged simultaneously.
In order to use the station, the vehicle owner must have a ChargePoint account and use the ChargePoint App. The App is available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. An account holder can use the App to activate the station, pay for the use, find local charging stations, and even join a waitlist to be notified once a full station becomes available. Additional information about ChargePoint can be found at www.chargepoint.com.
The average 2-hour charge would cost the user approximately $2.74. The Town will obtain revenue from each charge.
