Office of the Town Historian

The Town Historian of Sand Lake is an official of the local government appointed by the Supervisor.  The Town Historian's duties include collecting, preserving and making available materials relating to the history of the community. The historian also is responsible for preserving current records for the future.

The Sand Lake Town Historian can provide information about and access to many different historical assets related to the town, including: 

  • Historical documents 
  • Historical photos
  • Cemetery records 
  • Maps
  • Deeds 
  • Genealogy files of Sand Lake families 
  • Town news items from local newspapers and the Advertiser 
  • Artifacts and business records from Faith Mills, Glass Works and other businesses 
  • Records from community organizations 
  • Oral history recordings 
  • The Sand Lake Historical Society and its website, meetings and events. 

The Town Historian is also interested in learning about and receiving historical materials from residents of Sand Lake.
